The artist Piet Mondrian became famous for his geometric art
created using only black horizontal and vertical lines, and, red, yellow and
blue squares and rectangles. Copying his
style, the Kindergarteners created paper quilts to cover animals they cut from
colored construction paper squares and rectangles. Birds, bears, tigers, dogs,
cats, and elephants are all tucked in with the quilt pulled up under their
